Event Information

Walk for Lupus Now® is a family-friendly event that raises funds to support the programs and services of the Lupus Foundation of America, Philadelphia Tristate Chapter (LFA). The Southern New JerseyWalk for Lupus Now® will take place on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 6th Street & Boardwalk in Ocean City, NJ. Choose to walk 2 or 4 kilometers along the scenic Ocean City Boardwalk. Strollers are welcomed! Walkers are asked to check-in at 9:00 a.m.; the Walk will begin at 10:00 a.m. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing, suitable for the weather. Refreshments will be provided. There are no fees to participate in the Walk, but a commemorative Walk for Lupus Now® T-shirt will be provided to each participant who has raised $100 or more. For teams, every $100 raised will earn you a free t-shirt, up to the number of members on the team.

In addition, for each $250 raised, you will be provided with a course marker sign that may display your message in honor or in memory of your loved one with lupus or it can display a company logo or photo. Here are some simple steps to get you started:

Getting Started

  1. Register for the Walk for Lupus Now®. If you plan to organize a team, create your team first, then register yourself as a team member.
  2. Set a fundraising goal.
  3. Invite others to join your team. Walking with a team is more fun, and makes it easier to raise money.
  4. Raise money. Get valuable fundraising tips, and set up a personal fundraising page to spread the word among friends, family, and co-workers.
  5. Walk, Either 2k or the full 4k with friends, family, and team members.
  6. Celebrate a job well done!

Getting There and Parking

Directions

From Philadelphia, New York, and Points North: Garden State Parkway South to Exit 30. Follow signs for Ocean City, around circle and over the 9th Street Bridge.

From Maryland, Virginia, and Points South: Route 95 North to Delaware to Delaware Memorial Bridge to New Jersey Route 40 East to Mays Landing. Take Route 559 to Somers Point/Ocean City. Follow signs for Ocean City, around circle and over the 9th Street Bridge.

Parking

Parking can be found at the 5th, 8th and 9th Street and Boardwalk Parking Lots. Lot Parking is $5. Metered parking is also available, as well as private parking lots.
